An integral part of Lonehollow's program involves friendly competition between the 2 crews (teams).On a new camper's first night, he or she draws at random their crew. This crew will be their team for the duration of their camping career and members for life.
Crews build on our mission at Lonehollow; they provide another avenue for campers to excel through friendly competition. It encourages teamwork, listening skills and understanding group dynamics to achieve a goal.
Teamwork
Teamwork is a primary goal achieved as a crew, learning about working together and developing good sportsmanship whether winning or losing.
Confidence
Confidence Is gained through a crew member's individual contributions, whether it be in a heated game of soccer or earning points in a craft class. This is a key component to the crew experience. Every crew member can achieve great things, and every crew member's contribution gets their crew closer to reaching their goals.
Fellowship
Making new friends and having fellowship with your crew Is another key component. Outside of the cabins, your crew is your camp family. Though your cabin mates will change from summer to summer your crew mates will always be the same. Traditions, trips, cookouts, competition, and life-long friendships are just some of the end results of being part of a crew. |
